Help Children Build a Love of Learning
Volunteer & Support Early Childhood Education in Delaware
Volunteers and community partners play an important role in helping children thrive. While Newark Day Nursery no longer hosts individual volunteers directly in our classrooms, we proudly partner with organizations that create meaningful opportunities to support children’s learning and development.
Volunteer Programs
One of our valued partners is Read Aloud Delaware, whose volunteers visit NDNCC to read one-on-one with children and help build early literacy skills. These special reading experiences foster language development, encourage a love of books, and help prepare children for future success in school and life.
Become a Read Aloud Volunteer
Read Aloud Delaware trains and supports volunteers who read with children in childcare centers, Head Start programs, and kindergarten classrooms throughout Delaware. Volunteers spend just 5 to 15 minutes reading one-on-one with a child, helping strengthen literacy skills and build confidence through positive interactions.
Reading with young children is a simple activity with lifelong benefits. More reading during the preschool years helps support school readiness and future academic success.
